  • This 1921 essay/obituary of Mary White, written by her father, was required reading when I was in school.  It wasn't only for the grammar and writing style, but for the topic as well.  It was a unique look at the life of a young girl so many years ago.  I'm glad I had the chance to re...

Message 1: from General James Mattis, on the matter of professional reading, 20 November 2003 ….The problem with being too busy to read is that you learn by experience (or by your men’s experience), i.e. the hard way. By reading, you learn through others’ experiences, general...

Finding Hope in a Seemingly Hopeless World

  • At times, I'm guilty of negative and even pessimistic thoughts, but who isn't when faced with the breadth of insanity infesting our society? Then I look at the Creation of the Gods, the sacred woodlands and meadows and I find inspiration in the sounds of Nature.  What Nature and the Gods teach me is that no matter what one must not give up a fight in the face of adversity.  Take the Autumn season for example, leaves turn colors, the air grows cold soon giving way to snow and ice laden wind, but soon, once the Winter Solstice comes the Sun begins to stay out longer.  Albeit, it doesn't seem so, but in no time we realize the Sun is out longer, the air begins to warm up and the green of the fields and trees come back.  The simple act of changing seasons reaffirms my faith in my Gods and hope in a world to steer itself from calamity.  Of course, this is not a means to just simply sit back.  We also must be present with our actions in order to help steer this world back on track.  To do that is to make America a great superpower again.  For generations She has been the light to the world of hope and true change. Ripple effect.

Faith is a powerful thing that we all must recognize whether one believes or not.  It has the power to command people to be charitable or deadly terrorists. We must never give up our respective beliefs no matter what some figurehead may say.  If you feel in your soul that your belief is True, then by all means believe, but not to the point where it infringes on the rights of others to believe differently.  Teach them instead without force, but with compassion and understanding. The way forward is not taking a step back with barbaric force like the Islamists, but with a gentle guiding hand.  If they resist, so be it.  We are all free to choose our paths in life.

    Brightest Blessings to All

Doug Walters Nobody gets out of here alive and nobody will escape the final judgment. Try to do God's will each day and we will be fine.
