I believe our flag is one of the most unique and beautiful to ever grave the history of our world. So for me to say this is quite new because in my dark socialist past I found no value in the flag. It was just a piece of fabric. To admit this makes flinch with hatred of my past self, but I learned appreciation and came out of the dark of socialism into the light of conservatism.
Today, I got my haircut and when I was walking back to my parents house, I saw the flag with a wooden dowel rod lying on the ground, so I picked up and stuck it securely back into the ground. And a few weeks ago I found two minorly tattered small flags just discarded like trash. I know there's some procedure to do in cases like this, but it still feels wrong to do that to two perfectly god flags. So I just tied them to wooden rods and placed them around my greenhouse. Giving them a second life in more appreciative hands is better than burning them.
Those who sacrificed their lives for what our flag symbolizes (liberty, freedom, prosperity, self determination, individualism and exceptionalism) shouldn't be burned away unless almost unrecognizable. This seem dramatic, emotional or whatever, but in this day and age where hardly anyone appreciates this country and patriotism shunned anything that is even remotely patriotic and respectful to our country and our flag is an act of rebellion against an increasingly anti-American government.
Chip, since I already have Daves background, what was your transformation from? Hippie? Socialist? War vet?
