To keep a man a slave you do much the same as the cruel circus masters did to the elephant around the turn of l...

IMHO, the takeover of this weakened republic by China or Russia. They would salivate at the chance. The events taking place in the EU and the Muslim areas of the world are going to set off a world war that is going to be devastating to the world's economies. We the people are going to pay dearly.

I do see a war coming, where the forces of goodness are going to struglle mightily. The United States will become the clear leader of the world, aided by other Western Powers and an alliance with Eastern powers led by Russia. There is a new world coming.

It's true that there is a world wide consolidation of power going on. The evidence is quite clear. Sovereignty is steadily being sapped away from European countries thru economic power being consolidated under the guise of a debt crisis. The consolidation of power in the middle east and northern Africa thru the Islamic takeover of the governments by the Muslim Brotherhood. The growing influence of dictatorships world wide in South America courtesy of Hugo Chavez and others. Yup, there's sure enough plenty going on to indicate a shift in the world power centers. Thing is I don't see it including the US outside it's borders which by the way are now meaningless. less

I find it hard to argue with most of what Dave talks about in his article. Most in the US have been dumbed down or are bought off enough to realize the power they still have. When speaking of revolution few realize that there is an opportunity for bloodless revolution every 2, 4, and six years. Within the time span of six short years the entire government can be replaced (excepting the supreme court) without shedding a single drop of blood. That's a shorter time than it would take to perform a full blown armed revolt. We have a republic whose representatives are chosen thru a democratic process. That is the way Americans stage a revolution. I like to believe the tea party fired the opening shots in 2010. 2012 is the battle at Bull Run. less

Attempting to conquer and then occupy this well-armed populace would be a daunting task. Besides, they have zero reason to do so. All the commies need now do is stop supporting the phoney Dollar. When they are ready, they will dump the $1,000,000,000,000+ they are holding, allowing the Dollar to collapse. Then they will switch the worlds reserve currency to a Sino-Ruso backed instrument.
The US would be left no choice but to massively inflate the dollar to the point of worthlessness. Then, they can come in and buy America with the only currency that is perceived to have any value. Buying corrupt politicians, is a far easier way to control a country, than invading it. We have been doing it for decades. :) ◄Dave► less

Yes, the entire government could be replaced in 6 yrs.; but you forget that half the population wishes no such thing. They are working just as diligently as you, to replace the ones you like. The ballot process itself, has become so corruptible and corrupted, that nobody trusts the results of a close election anymore. Between gerrymandering and the advantages of incumbency, the notion of actually changing our government is a pipe dream. ◄Dave► less

Baron Rothschild said a couple of hundred years ago, "Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes the laws." The American government has been entirely in the employ of the international banking cartel, for the past 100 years, yet anyone who dares mention this in public, is dismissed as a 'conspiracy nut.' The control of the international money supply is about to move from Europe to Asia, but the way things work never will. The sheeple are so pitifully clueless... ◄Dave► less

The founders gave us the tools to never need another revolutionary, or even civil war. In my view the civil war was completely unnecessary, and contrary to the founding. It was the absolute destruction of state autonomy. But that's another story. I'm fully aware of the "other half". That's the half that wanted change and got more of the same because they elected the same. I once read an essay by some crazy right winger called Divided States of America. http://tspeak.adirondackplaza.com/divided-states-of-america/ Something that could as easily come at the ballot box as a munitions dump. less

When the war starts, I’ll not shirk my duty; I never have. I am pissed off enough to almost be looking forward to it; but I’ll harbor no unrealistic dream that it will solve a damn thing. It won’t, because it can’t. The rugged individualist has been bred out of our culture. The altruists and their jack-booted thugs, will never consent to leaving their neighbors alone, to live peaceable lives, unmolested by culture warring busybodies, intent on regulating their lives, one way or another. The dream is over, my friend. ◄Dave►

Yeah, Chris, such a break-up may be our only hope. I am seriously reconsidering the anachro-capitalist point of view. Universal acceptance of the premise of statism seems to be the real problem. ◄Dave►

I agree that we are very close to c-i-v-i-l w-a-r and God help us all if BHO gets re-elected. I tried to reach out to younger Dems in the last couple of months in an effort to try to convince them of what exactly they're losing if they give away everything we hold dear in this country for the sake of a few so-called "rights" that are nothing more than entitlements that they've come to believe are rights, thanks to 30+ years of non-stop Prog propaganda.
We're late to this game - so very late. To throw a sports metaphor out there (as I am wont to do) this is the last inning with one batter left, and thanks to Justice Robert's ruling, said batter has two strikes on him now. This election is _it_. If we fail here, we're done. Our Republic is dead and we can pretty much bet that the Bubba Effect will kick in and there will be w-a-r.
(Sorry for the hyphens, I just hate Google, *the* search engine of the State, and I like to thwart them whenever I can).
Terrific blog post - I've not quite thrown in the towel yet, so hopefully we can make this last crack at it count. less
