A driver was stuck in a traffic jam on the beltway outside Washington DC.  Nothing had moved for 30 minutes.  Suddenly, a man walks up and taps on his window. The driver rolls it down and asks, "What's going on?" "Terrorists have kidnapped Congress, and they're asking for a $100 million...

Last week I had an Accountant (CPA) come into my office with her husband who happened to be a banker. She had requested the meeting because she needed “a good person to refer her clients to for investment and insurance needs.” What she was really looking for was aneasy way to make m...

  • This is a tough question but one that needs to be addressed. All you have to do is search this topic and just read the one liner’s that pop up. Things like “the world is doomed” and “total chaos” will come up almost immediately. The sad thing is that for most citizens t...

  • This 1921 essay/obituary of Mary White, written by her father, was required reading when I was in school.  It wasn't only for the grammar and writing style, but for the topic as well.  It was a unique look at the life of a young girl so many years ago.  I'm glad I had the chance to re...

What If You Only Had One Day? 9/23

  • Amazing things afoot my friends…and I’m not talking about the litany of precedent-setting events happening around us. I am talking about the view inside! It is hard for me to do justice (with words alone) to the amazing grace that simply exists here…patiently tapping its fingers waiting for us to notice. :-)

What I will tell you is that until we do, we will live our lives chasing things that disappear once we catch them. We have put ourselves on one side of a river, helplessly watching our true love on the other side of the river moving further and further away from our reach. That is our “sentence” for the crime of living outside

…until one day, she pokes you. The pull of the outside is akin to the gravitational pull of the Sun which, as Icarus learned, is a one way trip. There is inside a softer flame more powerful than a thousand Suns…and the one true bridge to the other side. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22jU9pybrX8

                                        Just When You Think

I was a bad man with the eyes of a blind man and the heart of a dead man till she rescued me…

I found love in a village at the foot of a mountain by the head of a river and the wide open sea.

When the legions of Angels came down from the sky

and they chased all the dark clouds away

just when you think its over…the end of the line

they’ll sing you a better day.

Love takes a bad man and makes him a good man and opens the heart so a blind man can see.

But sight is our payment for a service un-rendered…for the heart to make known what the eyes only see.

And the legions of Angels come down from the sky

…to take all your heartaches away

just when you think its over…the end of the line

they’ll sing you a better day.

What are these eyes for if we can’t hope to see more than love’s own betrayal in a friendly disguise?

Where is the sister who can’t find the brother who’s forgotten his mother from a long time ago?

Then the legions of Angels came down from the sky

…and they chased all your troubles away

just when you think its over…the end of the line

they’ll sing you a better day.

No flag I would die for could deliver a pain more eternally wounding than losing your love…

So take heart in knowin’ that a good man keeps goin’…like the River keeps flowin’ to her home in the Sea.

Then the legions of Angels came down from on high

to chase all the dark clouds away.

Just when you think it’s over…the end of the line

    they’ll show you a better way…

Just when you think it’s over at the end of the line…they’ll sing all your troubles away.
