With Memorial Day approaching Americans should be preparing to honor our veterans and military heroes currently fighting for us as well as remembering those we have lost. This honor should be especially due from our own government that has sent these brave men and women off to war. Unfortunately, th...

A driver was stuck in a traffic jam on the beltway outside Washington DC.  Nothing had moved for 30 minutes.  Suddenly, a man walks up and taps on his window. The driver rolls it down and asks, "What's going on?" "Terrorists have kidnapped Congress, and they're asking for a $100 million...

Todd Akins and the Lies Surrounding “Legitimate Rape”

  • The Democrats are having a field day with the odd comments from Todd Akins concerning “legitimate rape”. In fact, sometimes it seems that they are building their entire argument against Romney and Ryan based upon this one issue. But the Democrats are unable to stick to the truth, even when it is as convenient as what Todd Akins handed them. I believe it is because Leftist must follow the Leftist Argument Protocol:

    Dismiss, Distort, Distract, and Accuse.

    They know nothing else.

What Todd Akins said was strange. Simple as that. But he immediately retracted his statement, and, unlike most Democrats, he didn't try to pivot around the issue, deny he said it, apologize for people getting offended, or try to suggest that his words were misunderstood or taken out of context. No, Todd Akins apologized by saying his statement was offensive, stupid, and more importantly WRONG! He explained that the whole issue simply did not reflect what he really believed, and he then proceeded to explain what he really believed.

I suspect Todd Akins is getting so much heat from the Radical Feminists, the Democrat Party, and the Leftwing Media because his real and true beliefs are as offensive to them as his foolish comment about “legitimate rape.”

But why doesn't the Radical Left attack him on those real and true beliefs? Instead they Distort what he said, implying that he and all Conservatives essentially are Genghis Khans gleefully hoping for women to be raped and then forcing them to have the babies. Why can't Democrats just address the truth, and then let the American People decide who is right without lies, smears, or false accusations?

Todd Akins represents an “extreme” view inside the Pro-Life Movement, and I suspect his beliefs are not shared by all Pro-Lifers (I know I do not fully agree with him). He believes that the brutal and vile rape of a woman should not justify or excuse the murder of an innocent unborn child. This is because he believes that Life begins at conception, that the status of human being begins with Life, and that an unborn baby is therefore a Person with all the legal rights and protections granted to any other Person.

There are legitimate arguments to be made against this stand:

    1. Life does not begin at conception, but at some other time after conception.

    2. Even if Life does begin at conception, that does not make it human life, and therefore make the unborn baby a Person. The unborn baby becomes a Person at some other time after conception.

    3. Even if Life and Human status begin at conception, acknowledging that the unborn baby is a Person, that the mother is also a Person, and until the baby is born, the mother's rights should trump the baby's rights in some or all instances.

These are all legitimate arguments that can be made against the real and true beliefs of Todd Akins. Shame on you Democrats for Distorting the issue, and trying to Accuse Pro-Lifers and other Conservatives of being some sort of backward, woman-hating animals. Shame on you!

But the real issue is even more stark. The truth of the matter is that most women do not get abortions because of rape or incest. The whole issue is yet another Distraction (perhaps the most important element of the Leftist Argument Protocol). Most women who get abortions are using abortions as a form of post-intercourse birth control. I would suspect the percentage of women who actually get abortions because of rape or incest is a statistically insignificant number (no that does not mean rape and incest are insignificant; it means that the percentage is so small as to fall within the range of statical error). I suspect the number is somewhere between 1% to 2%. So if abortion was somehow eliminated for all cases except for rape or incest, 98% to 100% of abortions would be eliminated.

Agree or disagree with Todd Akin on the issue of conception and Personhood. Conservatives who are focusing on this are allowing themselves to be drawn into a Leftist Distraction and ambush. The issue is irrelevant, at least politically. The real issue is whether or not abortion should be provided as a form of post-intercourse birth control, and if so on what grounds. Frankly, I would like this issue to first be left with the States on a legal basis, and ultimately left with the conscience of the family on a moral basis.

And as for you pathetic worthless Leftists who build your entire political and moral philosophy around the issue of Abortion on Demand, I pity you. No wonder you can only use the Leftist Argument Protocol (Dismiss, Distort, Distract, and Accuse), and cannot address any issue directly, even those that are within your intellectual reach. You have built your whole life around lies and distortions to fool yourself and those around you into believing you are a caring person when in fact you are just a selfish irresponsible person. You claim to desire “freedom” but all you really desire is the childish avoidance of consequence for irresponsible actions. That is not freedom, that is degradation.

Cyrano Bergerac I wrote this during the Dem Convention, and the issue seems to have died down a bit, particularly with what is going on in the Middle East. but don't expect it die. The Left needs this issue to keep the drums of the War on Women theme going.

Oscar Booth It's not the left that is harming Todd. It's his own party. Not necessarily the people of Missouri but the Party bosses who refuse to back him. I didn't vote for him in the primary but I'll certainly vote for him in the general.

.•*¨*•. Jill ♥'s Arizona .•*¨*•. Any sane & rational person knows that Akin misspoke. Whatever sentence had formed in his brain obviously didn't come out the way he intended it to. The Left has no argument, so they seize on things like this, blow them way out of proportion.
