I remember one of my last attempts to reason with the progressive liberal friends I grew up with. Before I made a conscious decision to extricate myself from the sordid swamp of facebook babble, I was designated as an Islamaphobe/bigot for protesting a mosque at Ground Zero by Cathy V. who described...

"The New Colossus" Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-w...

The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils. In seeking to do so, it encounters obstacles which are deeply rooted in human nature. One is that by the very order of things such evils are not demonstrable until they have occurred: at each stage in their onset...

Second to None: An Evolution on our Right to Bear Arms I signed the waiver. My name in ink meant no turning back. I walked into foreign territory with my goggles and protective ear gear and, amid the loud blasts and shells flying at my feet, I was ready to get my hands on a trigger. Firing a gun f...

With Memorial Day approaching Americans should be preparing to honor our veterans and military heroes currently fighting for us as well as remembering those we have lost. This honor should be especially due from our own government that has sent these brave men and women off to war. Unfortunately, th...

Why Republican Governors Will Save America

  • During three and a half abysmal years of economic stagnation under this current administration, the foot soldiers in the fight for prosperity have been our Republican Governors. They have consistently fought back against the growth of government imposed by President Obama and stood in stark contrast to his failed record of job creation. This is why I am very pleased to see that many of these people will be headlining our convention in Tampa.

There are almost too many to talk about. From all corners of the country, they have passed reforms that reduce onerous regulation and lift the tax burden on job creators. They have protected our right to keep and bear arms and ensured swift justice is enforced on those who violate our laws. Most importantly, they have fought back against a radical President who does not respect innocent life and forces people of faith to violate their personal convictions.

Whether it is Governor Christie in New Jersey, who has vehemently challenged public unions or Governor McDonnell in Virginia who has turned a deficit into a surplus without raising taxes, these individuals are showing how the Republican Party solves problems at a state level with real solutions.

The same can be said for my two favorite southern Governors. In Louisiana, Governor Jindal has made great progress in reforming the state’s education system and has also passed a law for the chemical castration of sex offenders. Across the border in Texas, Governor Perry has passed medical malpractice reform and created 40 percent of all the new jobs in the US since 2009. It clearly shows that job creation isn’t some mystical concept beyond human understanding; it is the work of a low tax and regulatory environment that allows individuals to freely pursue their dreams.

Our hero of the year, Governor Scott Walker, did what needs to be done in every Northeast state in the country. By protecting middle class taxpayers with his Wisconsin budget repair bill, he ensured that state government will be limited and showed that the majority of voters understand how toxic public unions are to economic growth and prosperity. I personally feel that Governor Walker’s victory in the recall election was one of the most significant victories for our Party in recent history.

I also have to mention Governor Martinez, Governor Scott, Governor Haley, and Governor Kasich who are all shining examples of competent leadership and free market solutions. I am extremely proud to have all of these individuals leading our states and we should be sharing their examples of what is possible when the people, not government, are in charge of their destinies.

Our Governors demonstrate the most basic principle of the Republican Party – that our problems can best be solved at the state level with strong conservative leadership. This is a winning message for our country, and a strategy that is faithfully executed everyday by America’s Republican Governors.

Doug Walters I am glad they are here also, but always in the very back of my mind is a slight distrust of Gov. Perry. Don't know why but it is always there.

William Marcley Doug - As a former campaign surrogate for Governor Perry, I can assure you he is a straight shooter (no pun intended). His recent presidential run was unfortunately marred with some poor planning and strategy decisions, but his record in Texas is second t...  more

Doug Walters I understand what happened in the primaries. I can't really explain the feeling I have, some of it is not enough is getting done fast enough. Part of the problem seems to be rino's in the house and senate.
