A new White House Report concludes that sequestration would cost the Pentagon almost $55 billion in spending cuts in 2013. This is just the first round of cuts that would total $500 billion over 10 years. If no agreement can be reached, sequestration will severely reduce our pipeline of new ships, planes, and other weapons that are vital to the future dominance of the US military. Another consequence will be immediate job losses estimated at more than 100,000 if this law is enacted.
Defense spending has never been the primary driver of US debt - even with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The long-term systemic problem in our country is the bankruptcy of our entitlement programs and the ever growing size of government bureaucracies. The American people should realize this fact and vote the current administration out of office - who has added more crippling debt to our country in one term than any other President in US history. Let's not give him another chance to continue growing government while potentially putting our national security at risk with cuts in defense spending.
