Kremlin To Benghazi – Obama’s Miscalculation?

  • Just suppose the US activities in Benghazi were in fact an operation to transfer recovered weapons from Libya to the Syrian rebels. It’s beginning to look that way. Given an aid ship already discovered also carrying weapons in a Turkish port. It would stand to reason that if the Obama administration were to undertake supplying the rebels that would be the route to take given Turkeys recently joining NATO and geographic location to Syria. That would also explain the so far secret meeting with an unnamed Turkish official in Benghazi an hour before the attack by Islamic terrorists.

Given the players involved it’s difficult to see why a terrorist group in Libya wouldn’t want to assist their fellow “freedom fighters” in Syria. The defeat of Assad in Syria would advance the desired spread of Islamic states in the middle east and most likely bring the country under control of the Muslim Brotherhood. The only player we hear little about is Russia. Yes they are a player too. Russia is staunchly against the overthrow of the Assad regime. Syria is a strategic Russian port in the Mediterranean Sea.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who tried to persuade the President of Russia to stop supporting the regime of Bashar al-Assad, facing a tough position of Vladimir Putin. Aydinlik Turkish newspaper published a transcript of a telephone conversation on October 8 between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Putin:

Putin: “If one Turkish soldier passes the Syrian border, Russia’s reaction will be very difficult.”

Erdogan: “Is that a threat?’s Not acceptable.”

Putin: “Think what you see, I said the words”

According to the source Erdogan hung up at the end of these words

It seems Mr. Putin is quite serious about Mr. Assad’s future.

I think Obama may have just miscalculated his influence over the Muslim Brotherhood, and in turn over the many different terrorists groups that have an interest. Obama is on his way out or at the very least out in another four years. The Islamists can see the tone in the US and maybe see that advancing their goals thru the US could become more difficult. Buddy up to Obama and it’s good for maybe four more years. A friend in Putin could be a friend for life. A friend in Putin could advance their goal of bringing down the US. A friend of Putin’s may have wanted to stop weapons from going to Syrian rebels while adding to their own stockpiles. To think lasting alliances and trust can be forged with terrorists is the folly of fools.

Arrogance may have lead Mr. Obama to think he was a better friend than Putin. Arrogance also causes the coverup and the inability to admit you’ve been had. A rescue operation by our military would have only served to highlight the double cross. Sadly being played cost four Americans their lives.

As an objective addition to the scenario we could also question where Turkey’s true alliance resides. Could they right about now wish they didn’t have to live under NATO obligations?

There may not have been any wrong doing or anything illegal about Obama supplying the Syrian rebels. Many in congress were urging that more be done. Covering up a diplomatic blunder that destroys your whole assertions and positions in the region is another thing.

Jonathan Cousar You know your mention of Russia in the middle of all this, Chris, made me think of something. Remember when Obama told Medvedev he would have more "flexibility" after the election? I wonder if this may have been part of what he was talking abo...  more

Jonathan Cousar And by the way, you just gave the best explanation I've heard so far for why Obama would have denied the security force needed in Benghazi and denied their numerous requests and urgent pleas.

Chris ...Just Chris I always took Obama's comment to Medvedev to more pertain to eastern European block countries. More missile defense concessions and the like. Not saying it couldn't take in the middle east and Israel.

Obama is in a particular position with Syria. It's my...  more
