Back in July Debka.com reported that Obama was telling American Jewish leaders as well as Middle Eastern leaders that he was fully on board for a military strike against Iran in October. I reported on this here.
This week Debka.com is now reporting that Obama has backed off of this and is now pulling nearly all U.S. support from Israel should Netanyahu decide to go ahead on his own (or with help from the Saudis).
According to Debka, U.S. General Martin Dempsey asserted on August 30th, that the U.S. would not be "complicit" in an Israeli attack on Iran. That word "complicit" is a very interesting choice of language for the General to use. The dictionary definition of complicit is: "choosing to be involved in an illegal or questionable act".
It sounds like the General is channeling for the administration and apparently the administration believes that an attack on Iran would be a crime committed by Israel.
Last month Time Magazine reported that the administration was making a drastic reduction in the scale of October's annual joint US-Israeli war games. This adds "up to a blunt message from US President Barack Obama to Israel: YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN! See how you manage without special U.S. weapons and U.S. military backup, including a shield against missile counter attack, if you decide to defy us and go through with a military operation against Iran."
This is the first time in U.S. history that the United States has so harshly turned its back on Israel during a time of great need. "Instead of sending the originally planned 5,000 American troops to Israel for the "Austere Challenge 12", the annual joint exercise, the Pentagon will send only 1,200 to 1,500 service members", according to debka. Obama has put Israel on warning that an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities will not be met with U.S. missile backup, both in of course of the operation and in the event of a counter strike leading to a widening war in the Middle East.
Debka adds that, "Obama, who has repeatedly pledged his commitment to Israeli security, is the first American president to cut Israeli adrift against a major threat to its security explicitly posed by Iran."
Debka also reports that "In the last month, Obama has undergone a change of face: the top U.S. soldier and ambassador, Dan Shapiro were told to start treating Israel like a pest." They were told to relate to Israeli leaders that the administration is fed up to the teeth with their clamor for action on Iran.
VLADIMIR PUTIN - Apparently this is the result of a deal reached between Obama and Putin whereby Russia promised to cut off supplies to Iran and Syria in exchange for Obama cutting Israel off from advanced military hardware - at a most dangerous time in Israeli history.
So, we have the specter of an American president aligning himself with Russia and using that as the excuse to cut off Israel.
In Obama's twisted mind, if Russia cuts off arms to Iran and Syria and the U.S. cuts off arms to Israel, that will level the Middle Eastern playing field and keep everybody safe. What Obama fails to see (or purposely ignores) is the fact that cutting off everything now will preserve Iran's nuclear program in a state in which Iran's leaders could have a weapon assembled and ready to use at any moment.
Fortunately for world sanity and Israel's security, Benyamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak are standing firm, against enormous pressure from the White House in demanding that in exchange for Israel holding off, the U.S. would have to attack Iran to eliminate it's nuclear program.
