Saw this a while ago. Probably the best piece Stewart ever did. He is still an idiot though. Just for the fact that he beleived all those promises in the first place. A conservative knew it wasn't going to happen. Tried to tell them. They wouldn't listen.

Chris, that's right... a conservative knew. But we have to give ohm a tremendous amount of credit for being honest enough to publicly admit it. Most liberals still don't.

Why would ANYONE believe ANY politician when they make promises? The problem with making these huge promises is that they're so multifaceted that NO ONE can really fulfill any of them. It takes cooperation from all players, and have politicians EVER fully cooperated with each other? Well, OK, if they can line their pockets with no risk to them, I suppose it's a possibility. Still, every time I hear a pol make a promise, I just roll my eyes (I know - bad habit) and laugh. less

Stewart is talking about promises that Obama had in his sole power to keep, like stopping renditions. He doesn't need cooperation or approval from Congress or anyone to do that. He can do that solely on his own. Even closing Gitmo - he could do solely on his own. Waiting 5 days before signing any bill he could do on his owm.

He would be mad at himself for being blind enough to believe the lies. He's not mad at the stupidity of the ideas. He's mad that they weren't done. That tells me he's still an idiot.

And it IS rather interesting that BO didn't follow through with those things, when it could have bumped his popularity up a bit more. Still, I think he has a Messiah complex, and I imagine he pictures himself as unassailable in every way. It explains why he's so shocked and angry that the "rabble" don't love and appreciate him for what he's doing to this country (oh excuse me - FOR this country). I just wish Jon Stewart would finally see that he put all his eggs in the wrong basket. less

I posted this hoping that libs who see it - it will give them the cover & the courage they need to admit he lied. That's the first step! If we can get them that far, then they're half way there! Because the next step is for them to see that they believed him! If they'll notice that half of America didn't, they may then ask themselves "why did we liberals believe him and no one else did?"! And THEN... only THEN may they possibly have that epiphany!

Oh and by the way - one other great thing about this video. Doesn't he show you how powerful comedy is in expressing ideas? I mean we can talk till we're blue in the face - but put it in the form of a joke and before you know it everyone's on your side!

Oh no doubt Jonathan. Saturday night live did more to hurt Palin in 08 than anything. Facts are boreing. Funny stuff people remember.

You know why Ford got the reputation for being a bumbler? Because of SNL! Chevy Chase relishes in recounting SNL's part in that election. He said flat out "We didn't want Ford to be president and we went all out to mock him and make him look stupid." And that did it. It was all humor!
